On your Mark, Get Set, the Race is On!

Drew's Pack got together for the annual Pinewood Derby race. Drew helped Dad cut with a saw and sand his car. He also picked out Indiana Jones to be the driver. Drew came in first place in one of the heats and was proud of that.

Down Hill

After school, I took the kids, along with one of Drew's school friends, to a big hill to sled. They had no idea how big the hill would be. I think they were thinking a hill like we have in our backyard very small. This hill is a nice sledding hill and was big to them. Other than being cold, I had a ton of fun sledding too!

The best part about snow day is.....

coming in to hot chocolate! Of course, I just can't give them hot chocolate alone....I have to add all my favorite things (ok, my kids are spoiled) marshmallows, whipped cream, and chocolate sauce! As you can see they are small servings. I spiked my with coffee....:) Hope you are staying warm too! I know Laura is:)

The Milk Man

I am so glad to have a milk man right now.....it is a total convience and a bit frivilous BUT I knew that we might be snowed in last night and so I just ordered my other groceries last night and wah-la! On my front porch this morning are my eggs, milk, butter, and cheese. I didn't have to shovel the drive to get out and get to the store and we will be set the rest of the week. Plus the prices are pretty comparable to regular price at the grocery store....except for the fresh milk and ice cream.

So we are having a great day snowed in....7 inches here in Westfield! Baking some fresh 10 grain bread....warm and toasty here:)

Oh, Sister!

Jack has been saying, "Oh! Brother!" Lately, and then it turned into, "Oh, Sister!" to Molly. He says it a lot. Well, I said something silly today to Molly and she said, "Are you a sister?" Not knowing where she was going with the conversation, I said, "Yes, I am a sister." She said, "Oh, Sister!"

Choir

We got up earlier than usual on Sunday morning because I was going to choir practice. As we were heading to church in the van, Jack asked, "Where are we going again? Are we going to the choirpractor?"
Aren't kids funny?

Science Experiment

My husband did a neat experiment last night with the cub scouts. Throw a cup of boiling water in the air and because it sooooo freezing cold, it evaporates before it hits the ground. Really cool! So he showed us last night and it was dark, so I thought today I would try it myself today in the daylight.

So I take the cup of boiling water......throw it up in the air......up it goes, now back at me, now inside the house, now on me....scalding water dripping down my shirt. Ouch! Maybe I should leave science experiments to my husband instead of me!

and I need to know how to throw a cup of water....I definately know now you don't throw it up. Scary, but I am going to try it again.

Not Me!

So this blogger I came across has a "Not Me! Monday"....it's pretty funny. So I am going to take a spin on things and list mine from the week so far. I am not going to do this every Monday....just a random blog entry. So here is a list of my "I didn't"s.

I would love to hear yours....so feel free to comment and post some of your "I didn't"s.

1. I certainly didn't let the boys stay up late on a school night to build with legos. And I certainly didn't have fun with them.

2. I didn't let the breakfast dishes set at the table until 2pm before I cleaned them up and I definately didn't just put them in the sink until suppertime.

3. OH, and I didn't eat 3 chocolate chocolate chip cookies that were reduced for quick sale in the bakery because that would be very glutenous (even though they were very fresh and soft still for being on the reduced for quick sale for 50 cents).

4. I didn't shovel the driveway at 12noon so my husband wouldn't have to do it when he got home. It's cold out there! And I did not complain in my head about why I was shoveling because that would defeat the purpose of helping my husband with a happy heart.

5. I did not give in to making homemade pizza for Drew when he broke down and sobbed because church Family Pizza Night was cancelled due to the snow and weather. Leftover soup is already to go so it would make no sense to make pizza. Right?

6. I positively did not let the kids make a complete disaster of the living room and dining room with their toys and forts. Couch pillows are not made for that! and I certainly did not let the leave it up for two days. That would drive me up the wall.

7. I absolutely did not NOT wash my hair when Molly threw up on me on New Years Eve. That would be so gross to just rinse it out in the sink. How lazy can you be?

8. One more I can think of is that I did not NOT do the laundry all week nor did I let last weeks laundry sit in a clean pile for 4 days waiting to be folded. That would make a lot of wrinkly clothes.

Maybe more to come on another day. I look forward to hearing your I Didn't s :)

Laugh

Oh, the fun of a web cam. My kids are entertained for as long as I want them to be. As you can see my Grandma and my Dad got in on the fun:)

Soar

Listen, child to me. Here’s a story now you see.
About a women long ago, in the Bible you must know.
She was a woman just like me, had a child just like you.
She played with him and laughed with him, put shoes upon his feet.
But days turned into years, and she knew a time was done.
With tear filled eyes she said to him, “Go,”, with tear filled eyes she said to him, “Go.”

And soar my child and when you fly keep going
Take my love so deep, take it now and be God’s child.
And soar my child and when you fly keep going
Take my love so deep, take it now and be God’s child.

Time has come for me, to release you now you see.
To the Father up above, in to His hands of love.

I’ll still play with you and laugh with you, put shoes upon your feet.
But deep inside I know where your true strength comes from.
With tear-filled eyes I say to you “Go”, with tear-filled eyes I say to you “Go”

And soar my child and when you fly keep going
Take my love so deep, take it now and be God’s child.
And soar my child and when you fly keep going
Take my love so deep, take it now and be God’s child.

I give you up, I give you up, each day I keep giving
I’m holding out my hands, standing here so proud to watch you soar.

And soar my child and when you fly keep going
Take my love so deep, take it now and be God’s child.
And soar my child and when you fly keep going
Take my love so deep, take it now and be God’s child.

Take my love so deep, take it now and be God’s child.

Baking Bread

I absolutely love to bake bread! For some reason, probably the heat, I tend to make bread in the Fall, Winter, and sometimes in the Spring. It warms the house and the house smells incredible!!!! Scott came home last night and said how good the house smelled. I just love to knead bread, smell it, and of course eat it!!!!

Kneading the dough is so therapeutic. So squishy and soft:)

The aroma starts at the rising....here is the place I found where my dough rises best....in the cabinet next to the dishwasher (that is running or has been run) It's very warm and toasty. Since we keep our house at 67-68 degrees in the winter, it really isn't the best place to rise bread. I also found that the laundry room is a good place too when the dryer is going.

And then I get to smell it baking and then eat...maybe the whole loaf:)

Birthday Boy!

Jack turned 6 yesterday even though he kept asking me all day if he really wasn't 6 until he had his party which is at the end of the month. I would say no, you are 6 today, that's when you were born. He didn't understand because he kept asking over and over.

We celebrated by getting his FREE birthday cake at Marsh and he wanted homemade pizza.

Just can't stop taking pics:)

I think they are precious:0

Downloading

At the dinner table tonight Scott asked everyone to say one thing they did today. He started with Jack, being the birthday day boy today, and Jack couldn't think of anything. Finally he said that he was "downloading"....which meant, "Wait, I will tell you in a little bit." I just cracked up!

$$$$$

Ok, so I "stole" this clip from someone else's blog because I like it so much. Thanks Rebekah (if you ever read my blog) :) So click here to view "Don't Buy what you Can't Afford" SNL skit.

Berries

The picture in my Header is taken of our tree out back. I love the berry color and pulled out my new telephoto lens to try and capture the beauty of our barren tree....I guess the not so barren tree.

You're not fired....

now "You're grounded!"
JUST AN UPDATE:

After I typed the whole "You're fired" thing, Molly was still messing with his toys and I heard him say, "Molly your grounded!" We haven't even talked about the whole "grounded" issue yet, so he must have heard that word at school.

Dum Dum Da-dum

Each year I put Molly in my wedding dress to see how she has grown. I forgot to do that on her birthday a couple of months ago, so now I have had a chance to do our "photo shoot" this Christmas Break. She enjoyed putting it on this year! Last year.....not so much!

Last year's pic (2yrs) above.....

And her first year's pic (definitely not happy):

You're Fired!

Drew and Jack are playing in the living room and Molly started "messing" with their things. Drew just said, "Molly, if you don't stop that, you're fired!" I am not sure where he heard that but I promise you we haven't had him watch The Apprentice or anything:)

Stockings

The boys got to peek inside their stockings on Christmas Eve and they found little capes for their super hero stuffed animals. I made little capes with scrapes of big capes I made and I used the initial of their favorite animal to put on them. They were so excited!

Automoblox

My kids favorite toy is the Automoblox right now. Of course, their preferences change over time....ummmm, sometimes the minute. But right now they really love their Automoblox cars. They love them so much that Jack is having an Automoblox birthday party. Of course, Molly wants to be like the boys, so she wanted the pink one for her birthday.

If your kids like to build like mine do, these are a great sturdy toy!

Here the boys combined mulitple cars together to create their favorite....the Limo:)

My 3 Cuties

I don't know why Molly made this sad face, but it is precious.
Drew and Jack just had their hair trimmed and "styled" so they were wanting their pics taken.
